Betty Johnson

Betty Lorraine Samaha Johnson March 27 1933 – June 27 2008 We are at a loss, for nothing seems to be enough. There are not enough words to describe her strength, not enough pictures to capture her beauty, not enough poems to reveal her heart. She was a mother, grandmother, wife, sister, friend and so very much more to so many people. The lives she touched will be forever filled with her sweet laughter and grace. She was a precious gift. Now in this time of missing her so terribly, our comfort can be found in her eternal peace. Finally she can rest and be loved with a greater love than she ever thought possible. She was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts and raised in St. Anne’s orphanage with her 7 brothers and sisters. She moved to Kansas shortly after her marriage to Gerald R. Johnson, living in Seneca, Holton and finally settling in Topeka. She spent most of her years working in the service industry most notably as the dining room supervisor at Holiday Inn West. For the last eight years she has served the residents of Drury Place going above and beyond her job description. She brought her natural warmth and generosity to all the residents making them feel special and important. And they in turn did the same for her. She had a love for good food and making sure people ate it, true crime stories, and regular trips to the casino. She is survived by her daughter Kathleen (Johnson) Brown of Topeka and granddaughter Katie (Johnson) Kuehn of Los Angeles; siblings: Pat Marcinowski, Frank Samaha, Doug Samaha, Jerry Levesque. She was preceded in death by her husband Gerald R. Johnson, April 3 1992. Visitation is Monday, June 30 at 7:00pm at Northland Christian Church, 3102 NW Topeka Blvd, Topeka KS 66617. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at 1:00pm at Northland Christian Church 3102 NW Topeka Blvd, Topeka KS 66617; burial to immediately follow.
