Bobbie Hoffman

Roberta JoAnn “Bobbie” Hoffman, 85, Topeka, Kansas, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and dear friend, passed away Monday, April 6, 2026, at Heritage Grove (formerly McCrite Care Plaza) where she was much loved by the staff. Bobbie was born August 20, 1940, in Lecompton, Kansas to Thelma Geraldine “Jerry” Nason. She attended Topeka schools and graduated from Overbrook High School in 1958. On January 21, 1969, Bobbie and Phillip Ray “Phil” Hoffman were united in marriage, enjoying 44 years together prior to his death on July 12, 2013. Bobbie was employed by Hallmark Cards for 33 years before she retired in 1999. Bobbie was a constant caregiver all her life and she embraced helping others – whomever was in need. She was the consummate Good Samaritan. Bobbie had a playful spirit which sometimes translated to ornery. She served as the Resident Council President at McCrites, attended the Red Hat Society meetings there, though she would not wear a red hat, and loved playing Bingo there on Saturday nights. She loved her pets especially her dear dog, Lucy, whom she would Facetime with after moving to McCrites. Bobbie loved her family and spent much of her time attending all her children’s and grandchildren’s events. She loved completely and with all her heart. She will be greatly missed. Grateful to have shared Bobbie’s life are her daughters, Jerri Higle (Tony), Catherine Morris (Mike Wallace) and LeRae Akers (Dean); 11 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and her brother, Ralph Anderson (Julie McCullough). Bobbie was also preceded in death by her son, Gordon, her mother, Jerry Nason, and sister, Rebecca Jane Anderson. Bobbie’s family will greet friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, April 9, at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Road, Topeka KS 66614. Her Celebration of Life , which will be livestreamed on the funeral home Facebook page, will be at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Bobbie's family asks that you dress casual or wear your favorite sports gear.
