Catherine Edmonston

Catherine Lorene Edmonston, 69, Topeka, Kansas, passed away following a fierce battle with cancer on Sunday, August 18, 2024, surrounded by her family. Catherine was born in Liberal, Kansas, on August 16, 1955, the daughter of Harold and Joyce Bagshaw Pauls. She attended school in Hooker, Oklahoma, before her family moved to Glasco, Kansas, just before her freshman year of high school. Catherine graduated from Glaso High Schol in 1973 and continued her education through the Stormont Vail Nursing Program, where she became a registered nurse. Catherine worked for 30 years at Stormont Vail, followed by Brewster Place for a few years before moving to Belleville, Kansas to care for her mother. She married William James Edmonston II “Jim” and to this union two children were born. Catherine had a passion for music, especially vinyl albums. She lived a life of service and was a caregiver to many family and friends when they were sick, especially her mother and her brother. She also enjoyed being outside, gardening, spending time with her dearly loved family, and alpacas. Catherine was very funny and her singular personality and laughter will be greatly missed. Catherine is survived by her children, William James Edmonston III “BJ” (Cristin) of Manhattan, Kansas and Megan Edmonston (Arturo Netherland) of Topeka; grandchildren, Jasmyn Lorene and Jayla Mae Edmonston-Netherland, Aubrey, Hadley, Easton, Jillian and Kinsley Edmonston; brothers, Richard Pauls (Lisa) and Dennis Pauls (Karen); sister-in-law, Diane Pauls; uncle, Ray Bagshaw (Donna); and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Mark Pauls. Visitation will be 6 to 7 p.m. Friday, September 13, 2024, at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Road, Topeka KS 66614. Celebration of Catherine’s life will be 10 a.m. Saturday, September 14, 2024, at the funeral home.
