Dea Olson

Dea Jane Olson, 79, of Topeka, Kansas, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2025. Born in Abilene, Kansas on April 10, 1945, Dea was the daughter of Harold and Mary Jane Brown and younger sister of Dennis Brown. After graduating from Abilene High School, she attended Kansas State University where she met Keith Olson. They were united in marriage on May 10, 1965, and were blessed with two children, Cami and Tyler. Throughout her life, Dea was actively involved in her community. She was a dedicated member of PEO Chapter FI and the Junior League of Topeka, where she served in various roles including Next to New Sale Chairman and Sustainer Advisor. Her community service extended to the Topeka Zoo board, volunteering with the East Topeka Senior Center, and chairing their Next to New Sale fundraiser. Professionally, Dea worked as an Interior Designer and generously shared her talents with friends and family, helping them create beautiful homes. She found joy in decorating, working alongside Keith in their yard, and pursuing her passion for rug hooking through classes and retreats with friends. A devoted Kansas State University fan, Dea enthusiastically attended football and basketball games both in Manhattan and away, including several bowl games with family and friends. Above all, she treasured time spent with her grandchildren, finding particular delight in watching them participate in tennis, musical theater and other school activities. Dea is survived by her children, Cami Walker (Greg) and Tyler Olson (Tammy); and grandchildren Mena Walker, Carter, Brooklyn and Sawyer Olson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Keith, her parents, and her brother. Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 24, 2025, at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Road, Topeka KS 66614. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Residential Hospice of Kansas City, Missouri and sent in care of the funeral home.
