ServiceJanice Sue Elliott, 49, Topeka, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2005 at her home. She was born August 25, 1955 in Topeka, the daughter of Marlene Disney-Lewis. Janice was a wonderful woman and will be deeply missed by the many lives she has touched. Janice graduated from Shawnee Heights High School in 1973. She was employed by Payless Shoe Source Corporate office for twenty-three years. She was an advocate for C.A.S.A and coordinated deliveries for a large group of Payless Shoe Source Associates who delivered meals on wheels and she also delivered meals. Janice was scheduled to receive the Outstanding Volunteer award for 2004 through the Cash For Caring Program at Payless Shoe Source. She volunteered 384 hours to CASA and Meals on Wheels. Payless will accept the award on her behalf at a ceremony next Wednesday. She was the manager of the VFW Post 1650 lounge for fourteen years. Active member of Topeka Fire Fighters Auxillary. She is survived by her fiancé and companion of ten years, Pat Weaver. Her mother, Marlene Lewis, Lakeview, Arkansas and her in-laws John and Mary Anne Weaver, Topeka. Aunts; Betty Ashley and Ruby Fountaine, Topeka. Sisters; Connie Mohn and husband, Cal of Burlingame, Linda Mathews, and husband Robert, Tecumseh, Brothers; Layton Lewis and wife, Laura, Meriden, Tony Lewis and wife Jackie, Topeka, step-daughter, Rachel Gathers and husband, Greg, Nieces and nephews, Kristi McCall, Ann Lewis, Rebecca Mathews, Katherine Mathews, Eric Lewis, Cory Lewis, Jon Lewis, Christopher Mohn and a great-niece Cheyenne Lewis. Brothers and sister-in-law; Jim Weaver and family, Topeka, Greg Weaver and family, Topeka, Mark Weaver and family, Topeka, Mary Weaver and family, Topeka, Paul Weaver and family, Murray, KY. Janice will lie in state from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Rd., Topeka where the family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00. A parish rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 am Tuesday at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5973 SW 25th, Topeka.
