John Rosencutter

John E. Rosencutter, 79, Topeka, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2019. John’s great-grandfather was one of the first 5 settlers in Manhattan, Kansas and has a road named for him. John was born July 5, 1939, in Manhattan, the son of John and Violet Blakley Rosencutter. He was proud to serve our country first in the U.S. Army and then in the U.S. Navy in Vietnam onboard the U.S.S. Bon Homme Richard. On December 27, 1969, John and Mary Ann Siebenmorgen were united in marriage and just celebrated their 49th anniversary. John was employed as a respiratory therapist at the VA Hospital for 37 years. He loved western movies, especially with John Wayne, and was an avid K-State fan. John was a member of Mater Dei Holy Name Church. John was a devoted husband, father and papa. He loved his family and his caregivers and had a magnetic effect on those around him, drawing all to him. Grateful to have shared John’s life are his devoted wife, Mary Ann; their children, Michael Rosencutter (Melody), Doug Rosencutter (Roxanne), both of Topeka, Daniel Rosencutter (Marci), Ozawkie, Kansas, Travis Rosencutter (Mina), Tecumseh, Kansas. Lisa Holland (Hallie, dec.), Bremerton, Washington and Vince Rosencutter, Washington;12 grandchildren, Jacob Rosencutter (Erica), Zac Rosencutter, Austin Rosencutter, Christopher Rosencutter (Lacey), Alec Hernandez, Jacob Napier (Amy), Joseph Napier (Mandy), Nicole Born (Jonathan), Ashley Rosencutter (Daniel), Jennifer Heuertz (Kyle), Olivia Rosencutter and Josiah Rosencutter; 12 great-grandchildren, Adison, Grace, Samuel, Rylie, Rebekah, Zander, Alana, Jesse, Atkin, Kyson, Aidan, Emily, Eliza and another great-grandbaby on the way; John’s sister, Mary Martin, Wakefield, Kansas; sister-in-law, Sharon Rosencutter,Manhattan; and nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Henry “Butch” Rosencutter. The rosary will be prayed Sunday at 1 p.m. at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Road, Topeka KS 66614, where family will greet friends until 3 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at Mater Dei Holy Name Church followed by burial with military honors in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to be designated at a later date.
