Lawrence Rosselot

Lawrence Allen Rosselot, “Larry” passed away in his home in Lewisville, Texas on February 22, 2019. Larry is the son of Gene and Kay Rosselot of Topeka. Larry was born October 23, 1958 in Salina, Kansas. Although his father’s military career moved Larry and his 5 sisters to Guam and a few other places, for the most part, he grew up in Topeka. He attended Washburn Rural High School, played several sports, and graduated in 1976. Larry attended Kansas University. He played football, joined ROTC, and graduated with a degree in aerospace engineering. After KU, Larry continued serving ten years in the United States Air Force. He followed in his father’s footsteps, becoming a pilot. He flew in the F-16, T-38, and other fighter jets at Williams (Arizona), Clark (Philippines), Homestead (Florida), and Randolph (Texas) AFBs. Before leaving the USAF, he was an instructor to instructor pilots. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Captain. Larry was hired by American Airlines after his military service. He flew for AA for over 25 years and over those years, he flew several different airplanes, including the MD-80, 737, 767, and 777. He also earned the rank of Captain and became a Check Airman (instructor). Larry was also extremely active volunteer for the Allied Pilots Association (national union) throughout his AA career. He served as a national committee chairman for APA for many years. Larry married Katherine Anderson (from the San Antonio area) in Topeka on June 10, 2000. They have a daughter, Renee Lauren Rosselot (17) and a son, Gene Edward Rosselot, II (15). They have a home in Lewisville, Texas (suburb of Dallas). Larry was active in coaching his son’s little league teams and an active supporter of his daughter’s club volleyball teams. He was very supportive of his children’s participation in the Hebron High School Band. Larry’s five sisters are Terri (Jeff Crusinbery) Roberts, Topeka, Angie Rosselot, Orlando, FL, Lou (Mike) Allen, Topeka, Shirley (Steve) Conover, Olathe, and Diana (Dale) Thompson, Westminster, MD. Visitation will be Friday, March 8, from 6-8 p.m. at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Rd, Topeka, with rosary at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. March 9, at Mater Dei Holy Name Church, 1114 SW 10th Avenue, Topeka.
