Matthew Sigman

Matthew "Matt" G. Sigman of Scranton entered into eternal JOY Sunday March 9, 2008. Survivors include his fiancé, Karly Goodyear and two sons, Trenton age three and Everett Ray, age eleven months, all of the home. Other survivors include his father Ray Gene Sigman of Scranton, two brothers, Chris Sigman and Jamie Sigman of Topeka, one sister, Mundi Renae Smith of Lincoln, NE. as well as his grandfather, Everett Kentch, formerly of Scranton. Matt was preceded in death by his mother Deborah Ann Sigman. Matt had a large family of aunts, uncles and cousins as well. Matt attended Scranton and Burlingame grade schools and was a 2001 graduate of Santa Fe Trail High School. He was an avid sportsman and lettered in football, wrestling and baseball. Matt was an accomplished musician, having played in the Burlingame Jazz Band. It would be fair to say that Matt loved music and took every opportunity that presented itself to play bass or guitar. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Topeka and played bass guitar as his Dad, the music director, played guitar and keyboards. They loved playing and singing together. Matt attended Washburn University and Kaw Area Vocational Technical School where he learned to weld. Most recently he installed hardwood flooring, tile, carpet and other types of floor covering, often working with his brother Chris. Public viewing and an opportunity to greet the family will be Thursday evening, the 13th, from 6-8 PM at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish RD in Topeka. Funeral services will be held Friday, the 14th, at 1:00 PM at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1329 SW 37th in Topeka. Interment will follow at the Scranton Cemetery Matt loved his family and friends. He was always there with a big hug and a quick "I Love You". His playful attitude and quick grin will live on in the hearts of all of those who met and knew him.
