Robert Johnson

Robert L. Johnson, 54, Topeka, Kansas, passed away suddenly Friday, June 30, 2023. Robert was born September 4, 1968, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, to Philip Johnson and Dolores Dunkley. He attended schools and grew up, for the most part, in Yellowknife, NWT, where he followed in his father’s footsteps working for the utility company there. That is, until he met his beloved Jena and came to be with her in Salina, Kansas and then in Topeka where his position with Evergy, as a generation system operator, took them. Robert and Jennifer Hudson were married and enjoyed 23 years together. Robert was an avid golfer and sports fan, especially the KC Chiefs football and the Edmonton Oilers hockey. He loved music and attending concerts. Robert loved children, particularly his grandchildren and his nieces and nephews. He had a deep love for all his family and his presence will be greatly missed. Grateful to have shared Robert’s life are his wife, Jennifer Johnson; son, Bradley Hudson (Jessica); grandchildren, Adalyn, Emily, Lane and Scarlett; his father, Philip Johnson (Helen); siblings, Cindy Johnson, Garry Johnson (Kim Kearney), Richard Johnson, Gordon Johnson (Edna), Peggy Dorosz (Stan) and Jennifer Chester (Blair); nieces and nephews, Christopher, Jeffrey, Jonathan, Kyla, Kaitlyn, Emily, Jesse, Tia, Adam and Amie, Cindy, Jessica, Heather Castillo (Damian) and Aliyah, Soleil and Bella; his brother from another mother, Stephen Hudson; and many cousins.. Robert was preceded in death by his mother, Dolores Dunkley, his nephew, Donovan Johnson and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Walter and Dolores Hudson. The rosary will be prayed at 5 p.m. Monday, July 10, and visitation will follow until 7 p.m., at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Road, Topeka KS 66614. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 11, at Christ the King Catholic Church and will be livestreamed on the funeral home Facebook page. Cremation with inurnment at Mount Calvary Cemetery will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions for Robert may be made to the Jesse Bargas Memorial Fund and can be made out to Mary Bargas and sent in care of the funeral home.
