Evelyn Violet Rush, 94, Topeka, Kansas, passed away Sunday, May 16, 2021. Evelyn was born April 14, 1927, in Auburn, Kansas, daughter of John and Emma Cregute Kelly. She was raised on the family farm with her five siblings and graduated from Auburn High School in 1945. She married Kenneth Luttjohann in 1946, and loved being a mother to their two children, Debra and Charles. After Kenneth passed, Evelyn was blessed with a second marriage of 39 years to Colonel Allen Rush, who preceded her in death in 2018. She held secretarial positions at Sante Fe and Avondale West. Later in life, she loved her weekly volunteer work at the Capper School where she helped “rock babies." She was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Evelyn enjoyed extensive travel, which she documented in dozens of photo albums and enjoyed playing the organ throughout her life. She was also a loving grandmother to her 15 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by her friend, family and all who knew her. She is survived by her children, Debbie McKenzie (Don), Charles Luttjohann (Pat), Thomas Rush (Barbara), James Rush (Ann), Mark Rush (Ann); daughter-in-law Carol Rush (Mike Rush, deceased); and brother Leonard Kelly (Norma). She was preceded in death by four brothers, one sister and her son-in-law, Mike Rush. Evelyn's wishes were to be cremated and inurned with her first husband, Kenneth, at the Auburn Cemetery.
