Garland Dean Talley, 84, Topeka, Kansas, passed away on May 4, 2022. Garland was born October 1, 1937, in Sonoma, California, the son of Lenard and Mabel Martsolf Talley. He attended Seaman High School. Garland served in the United States Navy from 1956 to 1958 and was honorably discharged. He married Carol Abmeyer on June 22, 1957, in Assumption Catholic Church, Topeka; they celebrated 65 years together. Garland owned Talley Skelly Service Station from 1963 to 1983 and then was a Sales Representative with Sharp Pontiac Cadillac from 1983 to 2000. When the children were younger, he was a Boy Scout Leader and helped coach their baseball teams. He enjoyed boating, camping, golfing, hunting, and traveling. He loved attending family gatherings as his family meant the most to him. Garland is survived by his wife, Carol; sons, Rick (Christine), Robert (Lisa) and Jim (Lisa); daughter-in-law, Janet; grandchildren, Justin (Annie), Nathan (Lesley), Stephanie Betsworth (Cody), Matt, April Alexander (Ben), Brent, Lauren, Brandon (Jeryn), Benjamin, and Courtney; eight great-grandchildren; step-grandchildren, Morgan Kissane, and Josh (Sara), Mitch, and Cole Daniel; and four step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Gregory, and his brothers, Floyd, Glenn, Marvin and Walter. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, May 9, 2022, at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Road, Topeka, KS 66614. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery.
