Justyn Lee Hosman passed into eternity on February 8, 2022, following a presumed service-connected battle with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis aka Lou Gehrig’s Disease). He entered this world on August 28, 1970, in San Jose, California. He was born to Freelyn and Priscilla Hosman, joining one brother, Gary. His very earliest memories include day trips with family and then later riding with buddies to Capitola and Santa Cruz to watch the waves, enjoy the salty air and watch the sea lions. It was there he always found his breath and peace, regardless of what was going on around him. He served in the US Army 1991 – 1997, where he enjoyed growing in communications, medical specialties and parachuting. Justyn never tired of jumping out of helicopters so it made sense that he would skydive just days after receiving a diagnosis of ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis aka Lou Gehrig’s Disease). He was always determined to push the limits and live life the best he could. This desire only intensified in 2002 when he entered into a relationship with Jesus Christ and became adopted by a Heavenly Father who would forever love, teach and guide him into the ways of righteousness. After that, he never looked back. Never was he perfect but his heart was always to try. Rich Mullin’s Song “Hard” was a favorite because he felt it described his walk best. Those who knew him saw the love, drive and desire to help others and glorify Jesus. When he and his wife, Jessica Zuklich, got married on June 26, 2009, this desire intensified as they were determined to be “partners in ministry, lovers for life.” Together they became ministers with the Apostolic Network of Global Awakening, established and co-led “Street Awakening,” and dedicated their lives to helping those in front of them who were broken through trauma, addiction, trafficking, homelessness and the myriad of other challenges people face. Justyn had an incredible knack for networking with countless entities within the region and especially treasured the relationships formed while serving collaboratively with Topeka Police Department and the Capital City Outreach Team. Above all, Justyn loved nothing more than ministering to people on the streets and shelters of Washington, PA, Topeka and Lawrence, Kansas and truly anywhere he went. God used him to establish the first Operation Street Reach through the Topeka Rescue Mission. He also served with the Homeless Outreach Team at Bert Nash Community Mental Health Center and helped develop City Light outreach ministry in Topeka, Kansas. He loved the friends he made on the streets and truly viewed them as such. Even when he couldn’t walk and was having difficulty communicating, people would still reach out to him for support, prayer and advice. He tired in his body, but he never tired of helping others. That is one thing ALS could never take away from him. His resolve remained to love the one in front of him whether in person, online or wherever life took him. “Love God - Love Others” was the message he carried and lived. He loved sharing from Romans 14:17 that “the Kingdom of God consists of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost; therefore, joy is one-third of the Kingdom!” His heart was to use his infectious smile to always bring that joy into the lives of others. That is one reason you may see balloons instead of flowers at his services. He wants them to be a time of joy and celebration in honor of the Kingdom of God he rejoices in now. In lieu of flowers, Justyn has requested memorial donations for his children of whom he was so proud: Shannon (son, age 26), Isabella (daughter, age 21) and Zechariah (son, age 11). Donations can be made through GoFundMe under “No White Flags for Hosmans.” All funds will be divided equally and distributed accordingly. Justyn’s motto through his 4+ years ALS journey was “No White Flags.” He planned on being around for many more years but he never waved the white flag. Instead, the Lord was gracious to give him a new body and new home that far outweighs that which he knew here. Even through loss, God remains faithful. He never abandoned Justyn, and He’ll never abandon you. There’s no one who can escape from the true Father’s love and embrace. If Justyn were here today, that would be his message for you. Receive righteousness through Jesus by simply laying it all at His feet and saying yes to Him. Then walk in the peace and joy that will eventually follow. It may seem buried or hidden, but it will arise. Please join us in celebrating Justyn’s life through a Visitation from 4 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Road, Topeka KS 66614.
