Loyal "LJ" Rees

August 4, 1934 - January 20, 2022

Loyal J. "LJ" Rees, 87, Topeka, Kansas, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 20, 2022. LJ was born August 4, 1934, in Manchester, Kansas, the son of Harry and Florence Feik Rees and was a graduate of Abilene High School. He served our country in the Army as a communications technician. While in the service, Loyal and Nancy Carol Fisher were united in marriage, October 12, 1957, at Fort Smith, Arkansas. LJ and Nancy traveled extensively on their Honda Gold Wing motorcycles with a large group of friends and enjoyed bowling. She passed away March 8, 2016. LJ was employed by ABF for thirty-two years before retiring. He was a NASCAR and professional rodeo fan. LJ was a simple, very down to earth, humble man who loved his family and found many ways to make life fun. Survivors include, his daughters, Debbie Ross, Donna Gabrick (Michael), both of Topeka, and DeeAnna Dean, Little Elm TX; grandchildren, Lindsay McDonald (James), Jarod Mosiman (Tressia), Adam Gabrick, Jerra Dean-Torres (Michael), Jaydee Dean, Amanda Rice (Matt); 13 great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren; siblings, Marvin Rees (Betty), Alma Sexton and Avis Rader Bergman LJ was also preceded in death by his daughter, Darlene May Peavler, his twin sister, Lila Zimmerman, and seven other siblings, Wilma, Melvin, Norma, Etta, Milton, Dean and Edith, and his son-in-law, Mark Ross. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 25, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Road, Topeka KS 66614. Funeral service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home and will be livestreamed on the funeral home Facebook page. Burial will follow in West Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions are suggested to Midland Care Hospice, sent in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to www.kevinbrennanfamily.com.
