Raymond L. Streeter, 83, formerly of Topeka, Kansas, passed away April 1, 2021, in North Fort Myers, Florida, due to complications of Covid-19. Born on November 29, 1937, to Clyde and Jaunita Streeter, Raymond was the third of eight children. He is now in the company of his parents, brothers, Clyde (Judith), Charles, Larry, Jimmy and his sister, Judy. Ray is survived by his wife of 55 years, Linda Streeter: daughters, Sherri Oaks (Greg), Jody Thorpe (Mark), Trish Lang (Randy): son, David Streeter (Kim); grandchildren, Jacob Hundley (Katie), Taylor Hundley, Joe Hundley (Kayla), Lyndsi Streeter (Kirklin), Lexton Streeter, Logan Streeter and Nick Thorpe; great-grandchildren, Jordan, Anthony and Sarah; his sisters, Edna Corn and Carol DiSanti (John); and numerous nieces and nephews. Raymond Streeter, the man, was a prankster, silly song singer and lover of old westerns who loved to listen to torturous “elevator” music in his car and was a pretty darn good golfer. The latter was a talent he was able to turn into a lifelong career. Raymond got his first tournament win in the youngest division (13-younger) of the City Junior Golf Tournament at White Lakes Country Club, Topeka. He qualified for the PGA in 1957 and later for the US Senior Open in 1988 and 1992. In 1976, Raymond earned the job of Pro at Topeka Public Golf Course where he served for 27 years, retiring in 2003 and moving to North Fort Myers, Florida. As a member of the PGA, Raymond accumulated many trophies and titles, but the highlight came when he made his first hole-in-one on 16 in the Southwestern Bell Classic, Senior PGA Tour Event in 1990 in Oklahoma City. His prize was a white Cadillac Sedan de Ville which he tagged “1 on 16” and kept for many years. When he retired the car, he retired the plate to his golf cart, which sported his placards as Club Champion 11 times at Pine Lakes in North Fort Myers, Florida. Raymond went on to score a total of 16 holes-in-one! That must have been his lucky number. A Celebration of Raymond’s Life will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 15, at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Road, Topeka KS 66614. The service will be livestreamed on the funeral home Facebook page. Due to the pandemic, masks are required. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Alzheimer’s Association-Heart of America, 3846 W 75th Street, Prairie Village KS 66208. Condolences may be sent online to www.kevinbrennanfamily.com.
