Steven “Steve” Douglas Hohman, 75, of Topeka, Kansas, passed away Thursday, January 20, 2022. He was born June 26, 1946, in Topeka, the son of Loren and Betty Hohman. He graduated from Topeka West High School in 1964. Steve had a passion for boxing, spending some time training with the Golden Gloves before he joined the Marine Corps in 1965. Steve then served his country in the 3rd Battalion 9th Marines in Vietnam, taking part in some of the most dangerous operations, including, but not limited to the Tet Offensive. Upon his return home Steve married his reason for living, Mary (Frenn) Hohman. They were married for 51 years. He loved his wife and daughters and enjoyed watching them grow up. He was the owner and proprietor of Southwest Bowling Alley and Shops for many years. In 1986 Steve sold the business and retired in order to care for his daughter, Kathleen and wife, Mary. Steve is survived by his wife, Mary; and his children, Kathleen Hohman, and Christina “Christy” Sheetz. Steve is also survived by three granddaughters, Allison Sheetz, Victoria “Annie” Sheetz, and Emily Sheetz. The rosary will be prayed at 9 a.m. Thursday, January 27, at Most Pure Heart of Mary Church, following which his family will greet friends until 10 a.m. The funeral ceremony will be 10 a.m. at the Church. Steve will be laid to rest at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
