Lawrence "Larry" Anderson

Lawrence “Larry” John Anderson, Topeka, 75, passed away on February 13,2005 at home surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Anderson’s death came after a brief illness. He will be greatly missed. Lawrence was born Sept. 23, 1929, in Topeka, and raised in Mill Creek township, Wabaunsee county, near Alma, the son of Edmund J. Anderson and Margaret Anne Orton Anderson. He was one of two sons and a daughter born to this union. He attended Wabaunsee High School for one year and he graduated from Hayden High School, 1947. He served in the United States Air Force from 1950-1954. Larry met his wife, Marie L. Savory Anderson, in 1951, while serving in the military overseas in England. They returned to the States and were married in Riverside, California, June 6, 1953, where they resided for a year. Larry and Marie moved to Topeka, where they have since resided. She survives. . Larry graduated from Washburn University with a degree in business. Larry was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church. He had retired from Santa Fe Offices in 1987, after 40 years employment. Larry was an income tax accountant for many years as well. He also was a member of the American Legion. Lawrence enjoyed many years of playing golf, but physical difficulties made enjoyment of golf too strenuous in the recent several years. Survivors include his eight daughters, Mary F. Clinton and her husband, Randy, Texas, Kathryn (Kathy) M. Brooks and her husband, James, Texas, Linda S.Kaberline and her husband, David, Texas, Deborah A. Anderson, M.D. Topeka, Cheryl P. Wood and her husband, Ernest, Topeka, Tama (Tammy) L. Morgan and her husband Randy, Topeka, Janel B. Brandstoettner and her husband Niles, Topeka, and Danette D. (DeeDee) Wood, Topeka. He also had one son, Lawrence (Larry) M. Anderson and his wife Peggy, California. Mr. Anderson also had twenty eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He is survived by his brother, Edmund L. Anderson, Topeka Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Chrisman, Florida Lawrence will lie in state Thursday, Feb. 17th, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 S.W. Urish Road where the family will greet friends from 6 to 8 pm, parish rosary will be prayed at 6:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m at Holy Name Catholic Church, Friday, Feb. 18th ,burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
