Virginia Rundell

Virginia Ann Rundell, 88, Topeka, Kansas, broke the chains of Lewy Body Dementia, freeing her to be joyfully with the Lord, and all those dear ones who went before her, for eternity on Friday, February 20, 2026. Virginia was born July 25, 1937, to Jacob and Helen Treiber Krentz, in Topeka. She attended Holy Name Grade School, Sacred Heart High School in Wichita and graduated from Hayden Catholic High School in 1954. She married the late Paul Rundell in 1954. Virginia was employed by Southwestern Bell from 1969 until her retirement in 1996 as manager of operator services. She worked at FHL Bank Topeka for ten years, retiring in 2015. She was a longtime member of Mater Dei Parish, Holy Name Catholic Church, where she filled many roles over the years. Virginia was a Minister of the Eucharist, served on the Finance Council, was chairperson of the parish’s main fundraiser, the Fall Bazaar, and helped in various capacities in the church office. Socially, she enjoyed participating in events of the parish Altar Guild. Virginia’s Church and her grandchildren were everything to her! Left to cherish Virginia’s memory are her children, Chris Kimmel (Hal), Bernie Hayworth, Tony Rundell (Sheri), Germaine Leuszler (Michael) and Matt Rundell (Tammy); 13 grandchildren, Dustin Kimmel (Taylor), Digger Kimmel (Alyssa), Daniel Kimmel (Nikki), Allyson Joyce (Jason), Danny Hayworth, Shannon Hoskinson (Ryan), Zachary Rundell (Anna), Lexy Leuszler (Hansol), Jacob Leuszler, Gabriel Leuszler, Delaney Rundell, Jackson Rundell and Nathan Rundell; 12 great-grandchildren; her brother, Joseph Krentz; and many nieces and nephews. Virginia was preceded in death by her daughter, Kathy Rundell DeHart and her family, Virginia’s grandchildren, Jesse Schulz and Lyndsay Schulz and son-in-law, Rick Schulz; her son-in-law, John Hayworth; and her sister, Gert Gibbs. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 25, from 5:30 until 7 p.m. at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Road, Topeka KS 66614. The Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. followed by Family Remembrances. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, at Holy Name Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, sent in care of the funeral home.
